About Me

Hey y’all! My name is Kara Cary, Atlanta calligrapher and owner of Kara Elizabeth Calligraphy.

I am an Atlanta native, which seems to be increasingly rare. I married my high school sweetheart, and I am a stay-at-home-mom to our two wonderful kiddos, Olivia and Willem. I love Jesus and am thankful for the the grace He gives and for His abundant blessings in my life!

I am a huge fan of travel and supporting our local sports teams, Atlanta United and Georgia Tech. There are few things better than a good pour over or a real deal flat white, and if you stop by one evening after the kids are in bed, you are sure to catch Stephen and I eating our nightly popcorn. There is power in the written word, and I love to use calligraphy to make these words come alive. One of my greatest joys is bringing excitement to a client looking forward to a special day, encouragement to a sweet friend, and beauty to events and moments that will become treasured memories.

An interesting fact about me--I never saw myself as the creative type. I am a Type A, left-brained thinker who always leaned towards math and sciences and obtained a degree in finance. That being said, I was always drawn to beautiful paper and elegant script styles. I had an interest in learning more about calligraphy, but I never took steps to actually learn the skill beyond just watching videos. It wasn’t until I was gifted a class (thanks mom!) that my passion for calligraphy and a desire to use it to serve others was born. It was an instant love, and I am always working to improve my skills so that I can offer my clients the very best!

“Kara is such a joy to work with! She addressed my wedding invitations and name cards with her timeless hand lettering. As a bride, she made the entire process so simple and easy. Kara listened to what I wanted, communicated her ideas and provided various lettering styles for me to choose from. Throughout the process, she updated me when invitations were mailed out. My guests were so impressed with their invitations! As a bonus, she even provided me with a keepsake of an invite addressed to us and we have it displayed in our home!”
